Depression Help (Or Rather, Self-Help – Some Guidelines)

If you are depressed, what depression help can you get? In this post, I will tell you about self-help when feeling depressed. Then, I’ll recommend a tool that will greatly facilitate the task of overcoming depression on your own.

Here’s what you can do to cope with depression:

-    Get all negative thoughts that deject your spirit out of your head. It is not that easy, but it’s definitely worth trying. Try to pronounce many times in succession: “Thank God for everything!” I suggest you to do it right now and then to memorize how much time it took. Next time you feel down, just note the time and repeat those saving words for (put here your experimentally obtained value) minutes;

-    Cut, if possible, out of your life those who cast a gloom over you and make you feel depressed. Break up without compunction with people with whom you don’t share a spiritual affinity, with people whose inner life is not in harmony with yours. If you can’t drop them, then just don’t discuss with them any bad news. When they start complaining about something (as they usually do), smile and say something like: “Excuse me, I am on a good news diet. I cannot discuss any bad things – they are harmful for my health, so my doctor has forbidden me to listen to them”;

-    Recall the moments of your life which have always lifted your spirits. Everyone has plenty of such moments, and they are a great depression help. See your old photos, remember what lovely time you had with your friends and relatives, recall moments when you shook sides with laughing. Remove from the album photos of people who hurt you – you can even burn them mercilessly scattering the ashes to the four winds;

-    Invite over your favored friends and throw a jolly party. Friends will always support you in hour of need – if they are your real friends. Don’t deny yourself seeing your chums. And if you have nobody to meet with, then go to a concert, to the theater or to the movies alone – because, after all, you don’t know where fate will bring you together with nice people (the main thing is to be in the right place at the right time);

-    Turn on your favorite music. If the music is festal, that’s great. But even if it is sorrowful – doesn’t matter, turn it on (you may even cry if you want to – actually, tears can be a saving remedy, too. We cry when we are brimming over with feelings – and, with tears, feelings are let out, and our heart lightens);

-    What is your favorite thing to do? Just do it, no matter what it is;

-    Dance and sing! If you don’t know how to do it – doesn’t matter, it is even better when you improvise and thereby express yourself, letting go of control.
