So, here are things sadness is usually caused by:
- More often than not, we become sad because of mere trifles that we exaggerate. Are such minor problems as, for example, a broken cup, an evening spent alone, or an early morning phone call that woke us up really worth getting upset? By no means. Still, those trifles are the most common cause of sadness;
- Unfortunately, many of us are accustomed to getting worked up. When something doesn’t go the way we planned, we tend to make up other problems. Those problems accumulate and, finally, make us feel sad;
- There are times when sadness means that we don’t live our life the proper way – that is, don’t follow our calling and don’t realize our full potential. Such sadness can be constructive, if it becomes an incentive to change something about our way of life to fulfill ourselves.
Now, let’s see what can be done to resolve the issue of being sad:
- Read a good book. It will be great if the book is funny, but the main thing is it should be interesting to you. And, of course, the book shouldn’t be sad;
- Listen to your favorite music (again, the music shouldn’t be sad). You can also listen to nature sounds; they help recover mental tone, too;
- See a good comedy or watch a stand-by comedy show. It is an excellent way to lift the mood;

- Get some fresh air taking a walk. Get in touch with mother nature walking barefoot or hugging a tree;
- Get yourself a pet. Mere playing with your pet will boost your mood significantly;
- Engage in your favorite occupation. It will help divert your attention from sadness;
- Give your body a treat. Run a bath, light some candles in the bathroom, turn on some soothing music, add some fragrance oil to the warm water, relax, and enjoy yourself!
- Give yourself a makeover. Change your hair color, adopt a new hairstyle, choose some new make-up if you are a woman;
- Look at what you wear. Try to put on some bright clothes. Remember: orange and red encourage optimism, yellow gives confidence, blue and purple soothe. Stay away from gray, black, and brown clothing.
