Dealing With Anxiety By Means Of Self-Hypnosis

In the previous post, I told you how to deal with anxiety using two breathing techniques. In this post, we will consider dealing with anxiety by means of self-hypnosis.

First, I will tell you how to use self-hypnosis to fight anxiety. Then, I will recommend a tool that will greatly facilitate this work.

So, here is the self-hypnosis method of dealing with anxiety:

-    Lie down or sit down. The most important thing is that you FEEL AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE. So, get comfortable. After that, try to relax. A good way of relaxing is focusing on parts of your body – the head, the neck, the shoulders, the chest, etc (from top downward) – and commanding them to relax, or trying to feel how they are relaxing.

-    Picture a place where you feel as relaxed and calm as possible. It can be a sunny beach, a woodland glade, a very comfortable room - whatever you want, the only thing that matters is that you have, imagining this place, to feel AS MUCH AT EASE AS POSSIBLE.

-    Now, imagine you are in a beautiful and PEACEFUL garden. And then picture TEN STEPS that lead down from the garden to the place you pictured earlier (a beach, a glade, a room, etc). So, now you should take those steps one by one – SLOWLY, WITHOUT ANY RUSH. When you take those steps, count them. With each step, try to feel MORE AND MORE RELAXED.

-    So, you have taken all of those steps and arrived at the place. This place is a place of your COMPLETE RELAXATION AND PEACE OF MIND AND BODY. It is perfectly safe. And, what is very important, you can return from here whenever you want. Take your time and just feel (see, hear) how peaceful and safe the place is. Tell yourself how calm and happy you are; don’t forget to mention that you can cope with anything.

-    Now, it’s time to create an “anchor” to trigger this state of infinite peace whenever you want and need. So, pinch a fold of skin on your hand, or a finger, or a thumb – just remember what exactly you pinch. Then repeat the words you said about your calmness, happiness, and readiness to cope with anything – adding that you will be able to relax whenever you want just by pinching your hand (finger, thumb) and thinking of the place you visualized.

-    It’s time to return now, so return to the steps (in your imagination) and start climbing them. This time, you should count in reverse order – from 10 to 0. Count slowly. Don’t forget that YOU CAN RETURN TO THIS PLACE WHENEVER YOU WANT. As you climb the stairs, the sounds of the real world should gradually return to you. Finally, you get back to the real world – calm, relaxed, and sure of yourself.

-    So, from now on, to stop an attack of anxiety, just pinch the spot on your body you chose as the trigger – and you will find the peace of the place you created in your imagination again.

Use the above method of dealing with anxiety whenever you need. And now, just as I promised above, I want to recommend you a tool that will facilitate the work on fighting anxiety through self-hypnosis. Moreover, this tool will enable you to do things that cannot be done by means of ordinary hypnosis.

The tool I want to recommend is a computer program, the work of which is based on self-suggestion (self-suggestion means virtually the same as self-hypnosis). It automatically reprograms you mind according to your instructions. This tool will help you to solve the problem of anxiety and, in general, to change your life to better (because using it you will be able not only to get rid of anxiety or any other mental problem, but also to become more self-confident, more creative, more happy, etc – whatever you like).
